Help Build Water Wells
In many countries around the world, water wells are an essential part of life!
Over a billion people are without a household water connection. What this means is that over a billion people (mostly women and children) are required to travel for hours every day to collect water for themselves and their families. This is time spent away from school, work, and/or taking care of their families. Furthermore, the collected water is often polluted and unsafe for consumption.
In the capital city of Indonesia, Jakarta sits on one kidney-shaped body of water called the Citarum River. The river is so dirty that it’s been labelled as “the dirtiest in the world.” 35 million people still rely primarily upon this contaminated source for drinking and washing purposes despite its high concentration of consumer/industrial waste.
Access to a nearby safe water supply will turn the time usually spent on travel into time saved. It can turn problems into potential, allowing time for children to attend school, stay safe by not travelling long distances alone, and improve their health through better hygiene. Having access to safe drinking water will not only improve their way of life but save lives.
You can BUILD A WATER WELL through Al-Ihsan Foundation and touch the lives of so many by providing them with convenient access to something that is essential to life: clean water. This will prevent diseases from developing and spreading, hydrate children and families, and help thousands maintain personal hygiene.
Sa’d said he asked the Prophet ﷺ:
“O Messenger of Allah, the mother of Sa’d has died, so what is the best charity I may give on her behalf?” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Water.”
Sa’d dug a well and he said: “This is for the mother of Sa’d.”
